Alright about 9 months ago, got the iMac becasue it was "so easy." Except despite searches on the net and this forum I can't figure out how the frick to burn dvd backups for picture files.
Am I an idiot? Do I need software? What the frick is wrong with me? __________________

I am no MAC expert, but most things are too easy. Have you tried to just insert a blank DVD and see what it says.

I haven't used a Mac in about two years, but I thought I remembered just inserting the DVD and then dragging the files I wanted burned to the little DVD drive icon?
Edit: Did ya try this? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2087 |

You insert a blank disc into the drive and the Finder is going to ask you, what to do with it. If you choose, that the Finder shall take over, the DVD will be mounted on the desktop and you can drag the files you want to burn onto the disk. Alternatively the Finder pop-up dialogue offers to use some software to access the DVD, like iDVD, iTunes or (if installed) Toast.

Fran,
My guess is that your using the wrong type of disk. In order to burn a DVD (or CD for that matter), your burner has to support the type of disk your burning to. Not all burners support all formats. If your using a +R disk, switch to -R, or visa versa. These are the two most common types of DVD's. That should clear up your burner issue. |

Thanks everyone.
I'll let you know if I have better luck. Incredible how this has me stumped though. Humbling. |

WOw.
Put it in. Open in "FInder" and there it is on the desktop. Drag files on it and hit burn. THat is easy. Damn I astonish myself at how stupid I am sometimes. Worked like a charm. Now if it's possible to do this automatically through Lightroom, then I'd really be on to something. |

Not a question of user capabilities,
rather a question about how windows perverted computer usage ! |
