Default Offsite Internet-Based Backup

I could not find a thread discussing offsite internet-based backup services. Who's using what? What's the cost? How's it working out.

I googled and found Mozy. Looks good. I'm curious about your experiences.

Thank's

I'm using idrive.com and it works great so far. But I'm only backing my important business documentation up plus my outlook pst files.

MOzy was poor for me on OSX. The best so far has been Amazon's S3 services with Jungle disk (cross platform). I also got Backblaze because it's so cheap per month (5 bucks) and it will back up the entire system. So far it has worked well. I've used both to recover files and Blackblaze is a bit easier to use. But Jungledisk has a HTTPS portal now that lets you have access to the files. I have over 30 gig on Amazon's servers without issue.

I'm a Mozy user and it works well for me. My first backup took a looooong time, but after that, it is very fast. It only backs up new or changed files. I'm running WIndows XP.

+1 for Mozy and its initial 2GB free backup service. I use it for all of my machines as my 2nd backup in case I need to recover something offsite.

Simple, just use your Hotmail. (Skydrive) You get 25GB of storage space for each email address... and it's free! Why would anyone want to pay for online storage, when it is free for the taking?

In case you need to have a local backup first, and are a Costco member:

$109.99 After $30 OFF
Seagate FreeAgent™ Desk 1.5TB
External Hard Drive
(USB 2.0 Connection)
Item # 501500
Shipping & Handling: $4.99 *

I have no connection to Costco or Seagate.

Because online storage and online backup are different animals. If you for example want to upload your xxx MB pst file (outlook) every time to skydrive instead of uploading much much much smaller increments to an online backup provider thank ok.

Online backup provides file versioning (mine stores up to 30 versions) and data files are compressed during upload which shoud make the file transfer faster. When I delete a file localy it is not deleted on the backup which I think skydrive will do as it is a sync tool only. Online backup provides open file backup again so you do not need to close your files for backup (outlook e.g.). Enryption I think is another thing skydrive cannot do, not so sure though.
