Yea im not sure people are understanding the whole 64 bit thing. I get it, but I deal with it on a daily. But it will be mainstream in another year or two and that will help us all. I just wish some companys would get on the stick and write there photoshop plugins for the 64 bit. Sone do but my on one and NIK plugins are only 32 bit. Which sucks cuz then I can only use the 64 bit Photoshop for half my work.

Just to clarify a little.
When i was looking for a new laptop the one i wanted came with a 64 bit processor. My big concern was that CS3 (which is a 32bit system) would work with a 64 bit processor. I didn't want to have to purchase CS4 in order for it to work. I was not concerned so much about the speed as much as "would it work". This is a listing i got of the responses form various sources: Salesman at computer store " no will not work, need to get 32 bit system". Salesman at another computer store "no will not work" Adobe technical support "let me check with someone, answer No" will not work" Adobe sales dept. "yes it will work, but not at 64 bit speed. He said its like taking a 2" water pipe and connecting it to a 1" water pipe, water will come out not at 2" rate but only at the 1" rate". So my next step (just to be sure) was to post question at this site and GUMPER stated it will work. (thank you gumper )What i ended up with was Windows Vista 64, intel core 2 duo puocessor t6400, 4gb memory, 320gb hard drive. The software which i had from old system and which loaded without a problems is as follows: adobe CS3 Nikon Camera Control Pro II Epson r-260 printer All the above software is up and running fine and seems to me to be faster. I hope you are all understanding there is a difference between a 64 bit processor/ CPU and a 64 bit OS (operating system) like Vista 64 bit. They are 2 diffirent parts.

If you have CS4 there are two versions loaded. A 32 bit and 64 bit photoshop on a 64 bit OS. If your plug ins are like mine they will only load and work on the 32 bit version of photoshop CS4. I have yet to find any plugins that work on 64 bit OS. Actions are a different story in 64 bit Photoshop. Some work and some dont. Wish I knew why. I have a few kabota actions that just wont work in CS4 64 bit but work fine in 32 bit CS4. I try to use the 64 bit version of CS4 as much as I can becaus of it being faster and using the ram better. I also have 8 gb of ram. If you still have CS3 it will load and run fine on a 64 bit OS.

Have you tried tethered shooting yet? Many people have complained about the lack of 64-bit USB drivers for direct control of the cameras. I'm curious if any of the manufacturers have started to release 64-bit drivers now.
