I sold my laptop and am looking for new.I have cs3 which is 32 bit program. Most of new computers have 64 bit processors. According to sales dept at adobe cs3 may or may not work on 64 bit system. Has anyone have cs3 running on 64 bit processor?

Yes it will work. If your running Vista 64, I believe it will install under C/Program files (x86)/ which is specifically for 32 bit. I am using it on Windows 7 beta 64 bit (intel Q9550, 4 gb ram) with no problems. In fact its been lightning fast compared to my old 32 bit laptop.

Thanks Gumper for your quick reply. Is there anything special you have to do when loading cs3, or does it just load up? Also the machines i have been looking at have 4 g ram and a intel core 2 duo t6400 processor. Not that familar with processor types and am trying to learn as i go and figure out what a intel q9550 is and decide if that is what i should be looking for.

Nothing special to do when installing, it will install itself into default folders. Just click ok when it prompts you as to where it is installing to.
As far as what to buy and learning as you go, I would read up on everything I could first. Ive learned not to trust everything a salesman tells me. Intel Q9550 in a quad core processor. Think of it as having 4 processors in one. You don't have to have that particular processor to run Photoshop though. I cant be too much help right now as I am limited on time, so I will only offer the generic advice of just buying the best that you can afford. Getting one with vista 64 installed should utilize a "little more" of that 4 gig of ram than Vista 32 will and CS3 will work fine on it. Decide what you will be doing with the laptop first. Just email, some Photoshop, gaming? Remember, you don't need a high end gaming machine to run Photoshop with. I hope this tiny bit of info helps, good luck. |

Gumper, thank you for the information. Luckily the person i sold my computer to said to take my time finding another, so i will do some checking into the 9550 before i decide. Glad to hear there is nothing special to do when loading. Thanks again.
