Default Looking at New Monitors...

Would anyone know anything about this monitor and if it would be a good monitor for photo editing?
HP® Official Store — Buy an HP w2207h 22-inch Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor (GM757AA#ABA) from HP

Thanks for any input.

Well I'm watching with interest because I'm in the market for a second monitor myself. I have a Dell system but I don't think I want an LCD monitor.

I've been told to look for a TN - Twisted Nematic monitor because it's easier to calibrate and keep calibrated and can be viewed from greater angles than a LCD-TFT monitor.

Hopefully, one of our resident hardware specialist members will chime in and put us on the straight and narrow.

Hey Keith, check this out. A little information on the different types of LCD. Maybe it will help...

Ron, here is a link to NewEgg.com's page for that monitor. It might be helpful to read the reviews of people who bought one. Looks like there are 91 reviews currently.

Thanks highbarger. I have read those reviews. There are not a lot of them, but the monitor has received pretty high marks.

If you click on the 'Customer Reviews' tab then on the 'Read All 91 Reviews' link you can get a look at all of them. You can choose only the reviews that gave a 2 star rating first, just to see what issues people had with the monitor.

Thanks again highbarger. I have read all 91 of the reviews. What I said was a bit misleading. When I said there were not a lot of them, I just meant compared to some monitors, there was not a lot of reviews. For instance the Acer X223Wbd has over 1200 reviews.

Dell's 2209WA LCD monitor reviewed, deemed king of 22-inchers - Engadget

This one is attracting attention but isn't shipping for a few more days it seems.

There are high hopes for it, being as it is an IPS panel and at $299 a real bargain. Some have posted they have called Dell direct, spoke to a sales assoc. called Markus and had it confirmed to ship at $209 + shipping! Maybe worth a try.

I am torn between this one and the much more expensive HP2475WA as the increased resolution is very very tempting.

I'm thinking about a 24" myself. Early in the decision process, though. If you guys find a treasure, be sure and report it!!

LaCie and Eizo are the best LCD monitors on the market if you are looking to have a well calibrated monitor. They are expensive.

Went ahead and ordered the HP LP2475W. It will be here tomorrow.

First impressions will follow shortly after. I don't doubt my first one will be "Bugger! that's HUGE"

WOW!

Not as huge as I anticipated which is good. Very high brightness level OOB (around 320 I think) and had to lower it to about 12 on the scale to get to 120.

Beautiful resolution and stunning colours. It has real depth to it, you feel like you could reach in and grab the content. Some have reported pink or green cast towards the edges but not a hint o that here.

Mine is Build Week 46 of 2008.

I gotta see what movies look like on this thing. Lightrrom pictures look dazzling and the screen space at 1920 is incredible. I am sitting the same distance from the 24" as I did from the 19" and I don't feel the former is in my face.

Don't delay: get one!
