Default Graphics Card Upgrade

I'm about to upgrade my graphics card (Radeon 2400PRO 256MB PCI Express). I have actually read the entire instruction booklet before doing anything.

It says I need to update my motherboard drivers before I power down to put in the new card.

Uh, I don't know anything about the motherboard in my desktop (Dell Vostro 200). From some searching I did I understand there is software available that will decode some of the BIOS to ferret out who manufactured my motherboard so I can then go after the right drivers. I tried downloading a couple of them (freeware) but they failed to run once downloaded.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Its just a precautionary measure. If its a Dell, go to their site, enter your tag#, and look for drivers and firmware updates. Often times, its not necessary, but things can and usually do run more stable when everything is up to date. Once you're done, it should be fairly straight forward.

Thanks guys, I'll do all of the above.

Edit: Drivers released after the build date for my system are now updated. (if they were Recommended or Urgent)

The new card is in. I have the Slimline version of the Vostro so I had to change the bracket to the low profile version. I was careful to order the low profile version so the bracket was in the kit.

Thanks again, everyone.
