On my lap top with Vista it takes forever but a box will pop up about one minute after loading disc for me to choose how to open it.
My other lap top on XP worked three times as fast and 10 times smoother. Same amount of ram and hard drive in both with a better prosser in the one with Vista. All I know is I hate Vista!!!! ![]() Joe |

Has your drive been used for this type and make of media before?
I just replaced my DVD drive because for ages it would not recognise certain media (where my laptop would). I run Vista 64bit and am very happy with the new DVD drive: Samsung Super-WriteMaster SH-S223Q. Good luck in your fix. |

It's part of the reason that using CDs and DVDs as backups should only be a short term solution (like six months or less). They deteriorate over time, can become incompatible, or file formats can change. Does the CD work in another computer? If so, go buy a cheap 1 or 2Gb USB drive and use it to transfer the CD contents to the new computer and burn new DVDs if necessary. Or connect them together via network. |

Honestly, I really haven't had that many issues with it. Even running our smaller office network on it has been relatively painless. |

Thanks for letting us know that here. You make it sound like the post about needing a UDF reader was the problem.
In fact your latest post still doesn't attribute your problem to Vista. Sounds like Microsoft figures it's a hardware problem, having you return the entire system to where you purchased it. But, you're right, I don't know it all,.............................................. ............. at least not yet. ![]() |
