So,
I am trying to get to grips with Elements, can you please let me know what you think about the pp of this image.
(I can still see where the edges of the masks are but I'm not sure if that's because I know they are there)

What I tried to achieve is a narrower DoF and I did it by masking the area that's still in focus and then applying Gaussian blur to the rest of the image.

Is there a better way?

Thank you for looking.

At this size it looks good to me, Eric. Have you printed it yet?

I would have to agree with Take12.

Great looking dog by the way.

Thank you for your comments, it must be in my head then.

@ Take 12, yes but only at 8x10 'ish.
@ Lori, thank you. She (Pepsi, the female dog) is a real prima donna when she wants to.

Pepsi's got a beautiful head/look. But (the stance of) her hind quarters worry me. I'm definitely no expert, but I suspect a genetic hip aberration, as a result of inbreeding. A well known problem that many dogs, especially Alsatians, suffer of, and which gets progressively worse. Has a vet looked at that, Eric?

Thanks for the concern.
But yes, the Vet is happy with her hips (formal grading will be done in another 9 months). She were chosen mainly because the breeder follows the German breeding standards and there are no duplicates in her ancestry, at least not for the last 9 generations.

Personally, I blame the stance on the photographer taking candid shots of her when she's preparing to jump around after the ball that she thinks will be thrown..
