Default Creating an FTP folder in Vista

I can create an FTP folder on website using Windows XP with no fuss.

But I can't find a way to do it in Vista without using an FTP program. Is there a way?

I'd like to have a folder on my desktop with a direct link to the corresponding folder on my website to backup office documents. Any help is appreciated.

Mark,

The best I can say is go back to XP! I have not heard anyone speak well about Vista. I love the new ads MAC is running. Really cute. Good luck.

I think you can begin from step 10 but I just wanted to be complete.(all found on the big MS site)
  1. On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
  2. Click Programs, and then click Turn Windows features on or off.
  3. In the Windows features dialog box, expand the Internet Information Services node.
  4. Expand the FTP Publishing Service node, and then click the FTP Publishing Service check box.
  5. Click the FTP Management Console check box and the FTP Server check box, and then click OK.
  6. To start the FTP service on Windows Client
  7. On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
  8. In Control Panel, click System and Maintenance and then click Administrative Tools.
  9. Double-click Services, right-click FTP Publishing Service and then select Start from the menu.
  10. Open Computer by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Computer.
  11. Right-click anywhere in the folder, and then click Add a Network Location.
  12. In the wizard, select Choose a custom network location, and then click Next.
  13. Enter the name of the FTP site, with the full FTP:// in front of it, and then click Next.
  14. To use a name and password, clear that Log on anonymously check box. Type a user name, and then click Next.
  15. To have the FTP site open when you're done setting up the shortcut, just click Next. If you do not want the FTP site to open after you're done setting up the shortcut, clear the Open this network location check box. Click Finish.
  16. A shortcut to the FTP site appears in the Computer folder. You can drag that shortcut to your desktop so that it's easy to find later.

Count me in as one of the Vista critics.
But the only way to get Vista on a new machine from Dell, HP or Gateway now is to pre-purchase the Vista Installation Pack when purchasing the computer. (basically, your paying for Vista, but getting XP).

I could probably downgrade IF I could find a copy of XP.
Regardless, change is inevitable.

Vista's replacement has been put on the fast track in PD at Microsoft.
