Default Need Software, please help!!
Hello all-
I have been using photoshop for editing and the HP software that can on the computer for viewing, organization and renaming. However, I got a new computer and the HP software on it is Photosmart Essential. I hate it!!! It doesn't have any of the lovely functions that I used on the HP Photosmart Premier. I don't like photoshop for the organization, it has never really worked for me. What do you all use?

What do you actually need?

For something like 99.5% of all people with a digital camera, Photoshop Elements has all the functions you will ever use...

You are able to download it and try it for free to see if it does what you want.

I use ACDsee classic for viewing, batch renaming, moving, copying, and organizing.

Then I use CS3 for editing.

Picasa 3 is a fairly good and simple organizer. It's free from Google.
Also does some limited editing ---but don't try to compare it to
Photoshop, Lightroom ,etc. Just accept it for what it is and it might just be enough to fill your need.

I bought Photo Mechanic because the instructor at a class I took said it was the choice of the pros. I have dropped it in favor of two freebies...

Try Picasa 3 Picasa 3: Free download from Google or Windows Live Photo Gallery Windows Live Photo Gallery for organizing your photos and use the extra money for something useful. I have used Picasa for quite a while and prefer it to the clunky Photo Mechanic primarily because it will search my entire system including network (NAS) drives based on keyword or other search parameter whereas Photo Mechanic only searches the current folder in Windows. Both also have some basic editing capability but you will need Photoshop, et al for serious editing. Give them a try...the price is excellent.
