I just spent the day with the good folks at Adobe and got a deep dive into all of the new things in the CS4 Family. There are some REALLY exciting things in this new version but I decided to keep my first post limited to Photoshop CS4. For the rather lengthy complete article, check it out at:

Nice overview.
Bottom line, though: is it worth the (big) money to upgrade from CS3? I read about a bunch of "nice to have" features, but nothing compelling. |

If you are a big Bridge user than yes, the improvements to Bridge are great. Overall it runs much faster than CS3. There was a "test your computer speed" thread that CS4 did in half the time of CS3 on my system. So if you want improved performance, then its probably a good upgrade, but until I spend more time with it, its hard to really say for sure.

Improvements in speed are good. CS3 promised the same thing, though, and in practice I notice marginal speed improvements at best (once my plugins are installed). I'll give it a whirl, though.

If you use Curves a great deal, you'll find that you need a bit of adjustment at first, but soon discover that the Curve panel works much better than the old dialog interface.
