Forgive me for being dense.
I'm playing with this one black and white picture. RAW, imported into photoshop, red channel kept, others deleted, image mode set to greyscale. In Photoshop, it looks like what you see on the left here. In a web browser / other app, it looks like what you see on the right once the grayscale conversion has been finished. Same thing happens on 2 different computers (different monitors, etc) - so while it could be color profiles, I'm not sure. Could be photoshop cs3 being gimpy? How do I make the saved jpeg / other file look like what I see on the left? In case you're wondering, it's not an optical illusion because of the the yellowish background on photocamel (I put them together and checked), there is definitely a color cast on the photoshop version. I happen to like that cast ![]() Thanks! __________________

This may seem like a daft question but
...how did you post the one on the left to get it to look like the one on the left when you say it looks like the one on the right when you post it? ![]() |

...and if you right click and "View Image" the right click on that and look a the properties you will see under the heading 'Alt Text'
"The image http://vehiclehitech.com/pictures/%21%20Photography/20081007-ColorsInPS.JPG cannot be displayed, because it contains errors." |

That alt text is weird, but it doesn't apply (since the saved file doesn't have the same alt text) I think it's the webserver putting that in (if image can't be loaded, display "xxxxxxxxx") Glad I'm not the only one confused ![]() |

Can you post directly the image from PS then I can check if it's coloured when I open it in PS?

My understanding is that if you open the file which you posted in PS it is yellowish?
If I DL that file and open it in CS3 it looks exactly as it does in the Browser. I tried recreating your workflow using the colour version but I'm not sure what you did. If I start by changing mode to greyscale I end up with a composite with only a grey channel If I try deleting channels it changes and I'm left with Yellow & Cyan If I turn off RGB, G & B I have your image as posted If I then set mode to greyscale I have the same image with only a grey channel __________________
