Default DVD burning software HELP

I just purchased the latest Nero 8 software, upgraded from version 6 for burning my images onto my DVD/CDs. I HATE it! It has to have access to the web for it to work. They don't want to give a refund even though I called them within the hour I purchased it. The software is a bohemith to run. It was taking several (3-5 min) minutes to start and run. When I called them they said they would not give refunds but they could have the tech support people send me a file which would disable the internet access requirement.

My question is what is everyone else happy with and what they like for burning images to the DVDs?

Thanks,

I would have left 6 and used it. 8 has more features to prevent hacked copies from being used.

Roxio came with my Dell. It works well for what I need.

I used to use Nero but haven't used v8.

I will have to find 6 again and re-install it. I find 8 to be very cumbersome and slow. I know what I want to do and I don't need them telling me what they want me to do. It's the sheep thing again.

I should have left well enough alone. I forgot the if it ain't broke don't fix it. I don't keep on the latest and greatest so I thought I would check with the Camel. I just don't want to wait 5 minutes while the program connects to the internet. Most of the time I don't have access while on location. So it wouldn't work for me.

Think I would have them send me the file to disable the internet requirement and see if it works any faster, I use Roxio here though, DAve

I asked for that and I didn't receive it today. I got in touch with my bank and will challenge the purchase through them. According to the company the only way they will refund willingly is if there is a technical problem they can't resolve. Tech support is $1.49 per minute.

I didn't like the way version 6 worked but learned to get by with it. Ver 8 is a pig. They have a free 30 day trial but once you buy it you are cooked.

I use ImgBurn (can be found at The Official ImgBurn Website).

It takes a little bit of learning but it is easy and fast once you understand how it works.

Thanks for the tip. I tried a couple and one of them works only if you purchase it. The next one didn't burn properly. I appreciate the help though.

i'm using nero 6, which came with the dvd-writer i bout about 2 years ago... it burns dvds, cds, so i don't see any reason why upgrading.

why did you go for version 8?

edit: why didn't u get the demo first? that's what i'd do when (if) i buy new software.

Just STUPID I guess. I was using nero 6 as well. Had it for a couple of years and wanted to see if there were upgrades for writing.

Seemed like the thing to do going for the most recent version. Kinda like getting PS 7 over version 6.

Didn't think about it. I wanted to burn several disks and didn't want to take the time to "try out" the product.

...well, PS is another thing. I admit i don't know much about burning software, but i don't think that nero 100000 would allow you to burn a dvd at 1000x speed if that dvd can only be burned at 16x. Nero's last version may be the only one compatible with some dvds, though i don't quite think so...
