Default Mac help.

I just switched from windows to Leopard. When I run photoshop or Corel painter on the Mac, the top and side bars of the program show up and work but, the rest of the window shows the desktop. Is there something wrong or is that how Leopard handles these programs? If I open a photo to work on, the programs work well except the desk top remains in the background underneath the photo. It's very annoying. Any thoughts appreciated.

Like PhotoGuy says: that is how it's supposed to work.

Set up how large you want the PS or CP window to be by pulling its lower right corner. Thereafter clicking the green button (top left of the window) will toggle between the last 2 set window sizes.

In Photoshop you can also press the F key to cycle through the available views. The second press may suit you better.

I found that confusing too when I first switched to OSX. As tom says, the F key is your friend in cycling the windows to fit. Now I'm used to it I can't imagine going back to the Windows way handling - erm, windows. The MDI method seems very antiquated now.
