No, although iPhoto crashed on me unrecoverably, 3 years ago, taking 8,000 photos with it.
But I had good backups.

Incremental backups to 2 Time Machines, in effect a RAID1, 3rd HD off-site, projects on double sets of DVD's, reburnt every 3 years, one set off-site.

But I expect to need to change technology/media every 4/6 years though.
SSD is probably next.
