AVG is nagging me (and I'm sure others) to upgrade to version 8.0. Has anybody upgraded and did you have issues with the new version.

I get some kind of network error that keep me form upgrading. AVG keeps sending me fixes that don't work. I will use some other when this subscription runs out.

I have installed & used this on my personel computers and 3 systems I have recently built for others and had no problem at all. It is bundled with anti-spyware and a few other apps so it take the place of several other programs.

It's not bad at all, the best thing is that it isn't resource hungry like Norton & McAfee. It runs quietly in the background, scans everthing once a day and updates upon startup. Can't beat it for the price!!

AVG 8 is still free and can be downloaded from AVG. You just have to read the page. Then make all the links to buy it big and clear. The free download links are small and hidden. But it is still free.

Also, I have several computers at home running it and they do so without any problems. And the update installer will uninstall the previous version for you.

there is one slight thing that may be an issue for some with v8. It has a utility built in that pre-scans web pages - ie it scans all the links on a page before you click any of them.

I'd post a link to a story but as a first post it wont let me.

If your web browser allows the use of frames then it may stop some ads from showing, not always a bad thing. If that poses a problem the v7.5 is still available for download from Filehippo.com. This site just saves you the time spent looking for the free edition from the AVG site.

RLC, go to AVG Free - Download antivirus and antispyware software for Windows XP and Vista and click on the "Get it now" button at the bottom of the left column. Half a dozen "Download Now" buttons later and you'll have it.
