Looking to try to shoot my 5D tethered. Apparently no fire-wire available, just USB.
Never done this before. Tried with my wifes Fuji S2 and no luck. I think I am limited to a 12 foot max cord, but anyone have any other tips as to what is the best/easiest approach? I have CS2 on a PC laptop with A/C adapter for the Laptop. My goal is to shoot and have the images show up on the large screen on the lab top so I can see them quick and easy, allow the guest to make the choice as to which image, and then process in PS to do 1-5x7 and 4 wallets on one 8x10 sheet of photo paper. I want to have a water mark showing the event title and date and maybe a copyright notice for me. I intend to print on an Epson inkjet printer. If anyone has a recommendation as to the printer I am open to that as well. I don't like ink jets and would rather rent one than own one, so buying a cheap one to toss at the end is an option as well. I used to have an inkjet, but the inks dried up and clogged it and it was more expensive to repair than replace. __________________

I do not believe that Photoshop can do tethered shooting. I have it as well and was never able to do it with my D200. One of the programs that can do it is Bibble. I have a few friends who use it and like it for that reason. I have used it once and enjoyed it for the little time I had to play with it. Nikon makes software that allows for tethered shooting so I would assume that Canon does the same.

I must be losing my mind, I could have sworn that I posted an answer to this earlier.
You can shoot teathered using DPP and EOS Utility, these would be on the discs that came with your camera. |

Ok, I'm not nuts, you posted this in the Canon section already.

Nah, you're not nuts. I wasn't sure where the best place, or most appropriate place, was to put it. thank you for your information. I called Canon and got that much info, I was looking for more answers to the rest of the questions and any short falls or short comings or tricks to make it easier to do what I described.

Tape down your wires. also tape the wire to the camera. I dont know how many times i was in the zone and reached the end of my leash and pulled it out the camera. I would also look into a flatscreen monitor with your set up. that way you can see them on one side while your client can view them on the other side, it keeps them more out of the way. not sure about the printing though.
