Depends on the card. On some graphics cards, there are two ports, but only one will work. It is there to support the two types of video connectors nowadays...
Google your card and see if it is dual-monitor compatible. |

I have dual monitors on both my Mac and PC. Basically, I just plugged them in and they worked. I don't recall any specific settings that needed to be changed. And if there were, menu boxes popped open when the new monitors were detected. It was pretty simple.

Thanks but i tried that already,no go.
I did some quick searching .I think I have to enable dual outputs on my video card. I'll keep looking. What ere the advantages of running two monitors,i only ever did that with my laptop for obvious reasons. |

I think you have to set them up in the nvidia software. I think it is called TwinView. probably get to it by right-clicking on the desktop and going to advanced display properties.
The advantage is having 2 different applications open at once. You can see both big. If you use one application (like Photoshop), you can have the image on one display, and the toolboxes and such on the other. Makes for a lot bigger viewing area while post processing. |

You can have your tools on one screen and the image on its own screen. You can browse have Photocamel open on one screen while editing on the other. You can have streaming video on one screen and a web browser on the other. Really, you just need to find what works for you. =) |

This thread popped up as part of mu search results.
How do you tell Photoshop you want the tool pallets on the other monitor? I'm missing something. |

You should be able to just drag the panels or pallets to where you want them.

They were only dragging to the edge of screen #1. I didn't have it configured with #2 on the correct side. It works now. I knew it was something simple.
Thanks so much for the help John. |

For calibrating dual monitors you will need to either calibrate each manually or get a calibration kit that supports two monitors. For instance I use Pantone's Huey for my main monitor. The upgraded Huey Pro will allow both screens to be calibrated. I don't worry about monitor #2 that much since I just use it for the grid view in Lightroom. My retouching and printing is done from my calibrated main monitor.

thanks for the interesting blog, I do have a dual graphics card in my pc with no probs...but its the calibration I am not sure if I have overcome. I have Eye-one display 2 by Pantone....
Does the graphic card have the capability of saving both calibrations...I do the main monitor 2nd just to make sure it is saving...hope this makes sense Pat ![]() __________________
