Default Anyone using..................

Just wondering, does anyone use the Wacom Tablet for PS retouching? I know very little about the system, but it sounds like it might be very handy. Any thoughts to share?

C Webb

I have one but never quite got the hang of it. Still use it occasionally, but a higher end mouse is nearly as good for me......Bob

I have a Bamboo Fun and it does take some getting use to. You almost have to force youself to use it, but once you do it does have some cool advantages.

I've been using wacoms for a long time, since photoshop 3. I have a tough time working with a mouse... it's like drawing with a bar of soap. I like the smaller tablets as opposed to the larger ones. They take up less desk space.

Have Fun,
Wm.

I had a smaller tablet, but my swoopy drawing style didn't work well with it, despite everyone advising me that size didn't matter . I liked it a lot, but I need a larger work surface. i have a good Logitech laser mouse that is very accurate that has worked well for me. The crappy mouse that comes with your PC doesn't even compare.

I use the 9x12 Intuos3 tablet. I love it for PS work but find myself going back to the mouse for all other stuff. It's not a fulltime things for me, though.

I bought a basic 4x6 tablet, which was good with my 13" laptop screen, but is too small to use with my 24" desktop. I mostly used it for soft-brush work, like dodging and burning, but never got good enough with it for detailed work.

I use a 4x6 tablet and if it ever quit working I would DEFINITELY replace it. I use the mouse a lot, but would not want to be without my Wacom. YMMV

I Use Both When Retouching. A Mouse Works Better For Zappong Zits And Small Blemishes But I Could Never Use A Mouse For Removeing Braces Or Fixing Bad Teeth.

My mouse is in a drawer somewhere.

I've used a Wacom tablet for a couple of years now and wouldn't be without it. Particularly good for those intricate jobs in Photoshop. Takes a little while to get used to it - what's a mouse?

Like most of the other posters, people that post not big stuckup pictures!, I too have a tablet but rarely use it.

Its great for the tricky little detail bits that you cannot quite get with a mouse but does take a lot of getting used to.

I find my Logitec laser mouse does me for most of my uses with CS3.

Oh, and Hi, I'm new here and thought I'd try posting.

Regards to all.... Colin

Here's the thing...
If you are a traditional artist already, and know how to draw, paint, etc... know how to use traditional drawing tools like pencils, paintbrushes, airbrushes, etc.. then the tablet will be second nature to you. If you are not an artist, then this will take some getting used to. For most artists, who had to make the switch from canvas to computer, it was quite the opposite. "How the #$!? am I supposed to draw with a mouse?!?!"

I don't do any cloning or healing without my pen I need a bigger one. I will never go without one.
The only thing I don't like about it is I have to hit a button to switch between monitors when I am using the pen.
Doesn't make sense to you right now and it is not that big of a deal it is just to keep the pen movement sensitivity down.

I've considered one but I don't do much work in Photoshop. The Wacoms seem to be the standard, and the Intuos3 are supposed to be the best, though the Bamboo is much more affordable.

I have the wacom bamboo fun and as d2creative said I'm use to drawing. So it just getting use to control wise interacting with the program to get use to. Now I don't see how I did without it makes working photoshop a lot easier in my opinion.

I have a bamboo fun and a 22 inch screen. It took some time getting use to it and at first thought we should return it. But after a couple of time (less then about 2 edits) it started working out very well. We have a laptop too as well as a desktop so when my husband is one the desktop I don't have the tablet on the laptop and find it very hard to edit pictures with the mouse so end up waiting for my husband to get done using the desktop.

I've had an A5 Graphire for a few years. Wouldn't be without it. Much better than a mouse for fine work. Don't get a small one, it's too restrictive.

I won't ever get one til I can afford the Cintiq. I can't imagine not being able to work on the image itself instead of a blank tablet. But at the price they go for, it will be some time before I get one!
