In your photo editing machine, how much hard drive space do you have, total?

1.25 TB.
My son suggested I get a SATA/IDE to USB 2.0 adapter by Vantec in order to use those old internal drives that have been replaced with higher capacity drives. At $20, it has been a very useful tool. I got mine from newegg: Newegg.com - VANTEC CB-ISATAU2 SATA/IDE to USB 2.0 Adapter - Retail |

Not enough. My computer's a laptop with 120 GB internal... so we're talking ~110 GB.
I do have ~1.8 TB worth of external storage though. =) It has changed from ~650 GB of external storage, to ~1.62 TB of external, to ~1.5 TB of external, and so on, as hard drives have been added and subtracted. |

1.5TB available on a 4 disk 2TB RAID5. I've used about 50% of that so far, though it's not all photos - have some home videos too.

I've got (2) 500's inside and a stack of 500 externals, only 2 are plugged in full time, the rest are archives. It's not all photos, I have a good bit of artwork as well.

Around 800GB(internal) on the editing machine home-made watercooled PC plus 1 TB on external disks
120GB on studio machine (macbook pro) + 1.5TB on ecternal disks. 1 TB of external disks contain copies of original raw files + backup of Lightroom, 1 set under NTFS and the second using HFS . On macbook pro a 500GB external disk as working disk connected through esata 500GB is about 6 month worth of data, the next couple is due in february. Nicolas |

It's a little bit scary how much storage space a lot of us have... I've too much to backup offline so rely on multiple disks and hardware RAID, but if it all goes pop I'm screwed...
. What we need are terabyte sized tape drives/optical writers at a reasonable price. Seems like that's not quite caught up with disk capacity yet.__________________
