Up until a few days ago, I had always thought that I would have to invest in an expensive laptop computer, along with more cash outlay for a way to tether my camera to the laptop so I could view the images immediately after I had taken each one. This would also help when I am working with a client who needs to see a preview of each shot as I am taking them.
However, a few days ago I discovered that I could use the included cable that came with my camera (who knew it was there all the time?) to who hook up to a portable DVD player and basically accomplish the same thing. True, I cannot work on the images on a DVD player, but then I wouldn't want to out in the field. What I want, and sometimes need, is a way to view the just-captured image in a larger format than my 2.5 inch LCD monitor. I have now been seriously thinking about purchasing a portable DVD player for this purpose. As such, I was hoping that someone here might have already tried this out and would have some input/comments/suggestions as to make/model of DVD player, or any other info that would be useful to know. For instance, I realize that the color may not be perfect in one of these players, but then it is not exactly perfect in the camera's LCD either. So my main concern is can any of these DVD players produce an image that is reasonably clear and sharp enough to make this a useful tool...? Thank you, Peter __________________

Thanks, Craig, for your response. I'm afraid that you may have misread my original post. As I stated in that earlier message, I discovered that using a DVD player as a larger version of the LCD is possible. In point of fact, it was the very same video clip that you linked to that I was referring to as my source.
My question was not whether it is possible to do this, but rather whether anyone had any input as to a good choice of portable DVD player. As I had stated before, color was not the main concern, but rather the quality of the image displayed on the DVD player. To that end I was asking if anyone had any experience with this kind of setup and had any recommendations regarding the make/model of player. Also, if there was anything else that I should be aware of........ Hopefully, someone will have tried this and will have the input I was looking for. Thanks, again, Craig for your response. Peter |

Okay, I'm with you now... I didn't re-read your post after finding that clip, guess I should pay more attention, huh?
