Default Adobe Bridge problems

Anyone with the following problems and any solutions.

I am unable to do the following in Adobe Bridge:

Cannot delete files in Bridge. Tried the delete key, tried right click, tried the drop down menu. File just will not be deleted.

Cannot move files in Bridge. Error message said "The Operation Cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient permissions."

I am running Vista, and has Administrator rights, so I should be able to do everything. Please do not suggest changing to XP, that is an option, but I need to know, what is wrong with Bridge. I was able to do above actions just yesterday.

Appreciate your help.

Is the image open in another program? That happens to me sometimes when I forget I have it open in DPP.

If it isn't open, it might have been open and whatever it was open in didn't release it completely...?

I'm now wondering, if you have Windoze Explorer open, and are viewing thumbnails, if the one that you want to delete is shown, if it will stop you from deleting...?

In XP and the old Picture and Fax Viewer, no, that wouldn't happen. The thumbnails were kept in a thumbs.db file in each folder. When you saw a thumbnail, the image was from that file, not the actual image file.

In the new version with Vista, though, I don't know what it's doing. Don't have my work laptop to find out, either.

If the files were copied from another drive that didn't have permissions for this particular user, the NTFS information carries over to the next drive. Normally, though, the folder's permissions override the file level permissions...unless the entire folder or drive is sourced from a different user and the workstation belongs on a AD domain.

Me neither, thus the question. Might be different than XP? I thought Vista has some new "cool" Photo Gallery App that is probably running in the background in Explorer...?

But might be whatever else you said or something else.

There is also the possibility that Bridge is eff'd up. Try closing and reopening it to find out if that's the issue. If it is, verify that all the updates are installed by using Help > Updates.. in Bridge.

Or that Vista is eff'd up as well. Check for updates, reboot, and try it again. I've seen that happen in XP once in a great while (but again, this was on a domain).
