Default Camera tethered into laptop?

i hear some photographers say they shoot tethered into their laptops. Now i know this means they take the picture and it downloads strait into the hard drive instead of having to upload from the memory card. Im just wondering how they accomplish this? i want to start doing it as it seems to be easier and you can preview the photos to your client right on the set. Please help me out!

P.S. If you could dumb down the talk a little bit for me...that would be great. I have almost zero computer knowledge

Most of the dSLRs come with software that makes this happen. It requires either a USB or Firewire connection to the computer (PC or Mac, laptop or desktop).

Consult your camera's manuals for more info.
