Can't seem to get much info on which is best for photo editing. Does the fact that the shiny screen increases saturation change the look of a photo file on a calibrated monitor or not? HELP!

I think it's a matter of personal taste, is there an Apple store you can visit to see them side by side?
I don't like glossy, as it reflects a lot.. However, I heard the colors are really rich/saturated.. I got a 17" MacBook Pro with a matte screen, and it goes where the camera goes, even in outdoors shooting. |

Glossy screens are fun for viewing media and stuff, but not for editing unless it's dark; you can use the thing as a mirror...
My old Acer had a glossy screen, but my current Macbook uses a matte screen, which I like a whole lot better for most uses. |

If you are getting a mac look for educational discount if you have any family member or anyone in college you can use it. or highschool. you save $100. You do not have to put any information for the school they go to. Just select and bam. No proof required.

Thanks for the input, seems like a difficult choice. I won't be using it on the move much, so off to the store tomorrow with a load of photo's then I'll compare them side by side.......doubt if they'll be calibrated either!

Just choose "Color LCD" on both to see how each displays the same image, using the same calibration.. The calibration depends on the ambient light where you work too, so you can do it later after you make the purchase.
Best of luck ![]() |

Should arrive tomorrow according to the tracking site. I went with the matte screen in the end. The anticipation is killing me, sitting on my fingers for now.
