I had a Dell Ultrasharp U2410 and it died just short of its second birthday. It had great color but it was a very hot running monitor you could feel the heat coming off of the front panel.. Also oddly enough Dell doesn't show it on there web site any more. I replaced it with a NEC 232W. Since I run two monitors the slight decrees in screen size is not a problem.

I have two HP LP2465 24" S-PVA 1920x1200 monitors.
While they aren't the ultimate for photo editing, they've served me well for a number of years and the price for a used one is quite good.

Seems they are susceptible to "bruise" marks on the screens, so be careful that you get one described as good. One of mine has one stick pixel. Otherwise they are great. They calibrate well. CFL backlight has a slight color shift across the panel, but I never notice it unless I do something like put up a solid gray screen.

Good 24" monitor with good viewing angle for under $200. USB hub, nice height-adjustable base, dual DVI inputs ...

The LP2475 is also supposed to be good - wider gamut than the LP2465 (which good for sRGB)

And the 2413 sounds nice. Going to LED they might have fixed the high heat problem.
The Dell was my first high end IPS monitor until then I had been running dual 24 Mitsubishi Diamontrons flat screen CRT's; both of them close to ten years old. They had gotten to the point where they would not hold calibration so it was time to replace them.
I will see how my dual NEC's work out before I think about buying a Dell again.

I'm not selling dells... unless they send me one for free

Just clearing up dell didn't just ditch the 2410 line... but replaced/upgraded. I probably wouldn't buy a brand that died on me that quick either. So far so good with my dell experience (always used Lacie in the past).

I'm sure your NEC's will be great. The 75% of adobeRGB and less than 100% sRGB gamut may have turned me off though. The 16:10 ratio and extra vertical pixels that the Dell provide are nice for photo editing as well (even in dual setup).

I can recommend the HP ZR2440w. Great monitor, better than the Dell Ultrasharp it replaced...
