Default Best graphics card

I've noticed my screen redraws at home are too slow. Can anyone recommend a good new-generation graphics card for 2D work? No fan, no noise, please.

Hi Alice,

Have a look at Matrox cards, they are well known to be good performers for 2D type applications like what we are working with in Photoshop etc...

Have a look at this link, it's got some good info:

http://www.matrox.com/mga/workstatio...ital_image.cfm

Hope that helps,

Neil

What is your current video card? Do you have latest drivers? What operating system? If windows, when did you install it last time? What is your display? All this would help. It's fairly possible you don't need new video card (if it isn't ancient).

Any current-generation card from nvidia/ati/matrox is good for 2D work. If you have tft display with DVI then any graphics card gives exact same quality.

I agree with the rest that any current one ought to work just fine.

I have an ATI FireGL 128-T2, used about a week, in the box here that I put on EckBay, but PayPal sent me a Fraud Report on the dirtbag buyer. It has 128mb of DDR, (1) VGA and (1) DVI connector, and it is fast. It has a tiny fan, but you can't hear it.

If you or anybody want it, let me know and we can work out a deal.
