Default Good photo managing/organizing programme for Mac?

Hi all!
I just purchased new iMac and am very happy about it. When I used PC's I had Photoshop Elements 3.0 to organize my photos and liked that programme a lot. Now I am having PSE 4.0 Mac version but it does not have same kind of organizing system than taht Win version has. I really need nice tagging system, grouping functions etc. I am also having Aperture 1.5 for RAW conversion.

I would be very happy if experienced Mac users could give me some advice on good organizing programme. I take pics with Canon 350D in RAW format and with IXUS in JPEG. Thanks a lot in advance!

Jonne

Thanks! That looks quite nice programme. Is it possible to import PSE tags to iview? And is there some kind of calendar system from where I can choose the pics taken at that date?

Best,

Jonne

Yes you can select by date, or many different ways.

I believe they have a 30 day trial, I suggest you try it. This product can be the centre of your DAM ( Digital Asset Management) system.

Thanks Glenn!
I downloaded the trial version and it really seems nice and highly usable programme. Do you use that programme to enhance your pics or are you using it purely for managing the photos? Could you show me your workflow in short form so I could get an idea how you are doing the whole thing. Thank you very much in advance!

Best wishes,

Jonne

Photo Mechanic is what we use with the office Macs.

I do photomanupulation in photoshop..that's what it does best.

My workflow

Shoot images, raw, ( I find iView slower with jpegs, but smokes through raw and psd files)
Download cards using iview which catalogs, creates thumbs as it downloads.
Rename using iview ( session date-frame number)
transfer from studio machine to photoshop machine over network..using iview ( I don't loose client selects this way)
use iview to create custom html galleries for on-line proof selection.
customer selects are opened in photoshop. psd files are cataloged in iview so that i can keep track of versions/ prints selects
prints made, delevered, files backed up, to DVD.
The file numbers, session numbers, DVD name, thumbs are all imported into master iView catalog so that I can find files for reprints.

The program isn't perfect, but it sure makes my life easier.

Glenn
