Default Large image files and computer grinding to a halt???

ULTRA SLOW Software action?
Wondering if my problem is JUST NOT ENOUGH RAM or is the problem ACDSEE 8 Photo Manager Software.

Here's the situation: I have been copying 35 mm and 6x7cm transparencies with my new Nikon Coolscan 8000ED Film Scanner. Nice BIG Image files 5 to 8 megs and larger. When I try to work with these Files in ACDSEE 8.0 and even other Photo Editing software the Computer seems to slow to a CRAWL!!!!

The Computer running XP Professional has 1GB Intel Processor and 512Mb RAM......Am I being crippled by my computer and RAM or is it the Software or just the BIG Image files

Your experience and or comments greatly appreciated.

Gary

1.0 GHz and 512 MB ram? Not enough horsepower. Keep in mind that size on disk is compressed. When they are uncompressed for viewing, they are much larger.

I run three gig of ram and sometimes that is not enough.
