I've had one traumatic experience with IE7 (the last beta version, so I can't really complain) that required me to reinstall a DLL from another box to get my PC working again. Overall though I was quite impressed with it. It trumps Firefox in certain ergonomic areas, though the latest FF beta seems to be rectifying that. I'd miss the FF plugins though. Shame that MS doesn't seem to expose itself for third party plugins. I guess that's not the Microsoft way.
