Default Windows Vista will be 'unstable and insecure'

but as this quote has come from Symantec I'm not sure I'd place too much credence on it.

I really really don't like Symantec. The only company I know that release anti-virus products that are harder to get rid of than the virus .

When I saw Symantec I nearly died laughing. They just want idiots to buy their software.

So... was this supposed to be some kind of big news revelation?

That's kind of like saying, 'The rain will be wet and come from the sky'. :

Symantec isn't a real software development company... they just buy up smaller companies and re-label the products.

I will never forget the BSOD release of W2K-ReleaseOne, or was it W98SE

Yes Chip, I think that was part of the point I was trying to make . Interesting about companies who buy smaller companies though - MS have always been well known for doing that. I see Google seem to be following in their footsteps too. Just so long as neither buy up Symantec, then they should be OK .

Yeah, it's very difficult for any enterprise to move away from MS nowadays. I do remember reading of some German companies/public bodies that moved en masse to SUSE Linux. Saved them a fortune in OS and Office licenses.

True about Adobe and MS... but Symantec never had a product of it's own... unless you want to count that stupid C++ framework they scuttled. While I don't like big companies buying small ones, Adobe and Microsoft at least have a base of products they actually created form scratch... Symantec is a POS.
