Hello everybody,
I'm trying to setup a photoblog and I was wondering if you had any recommendations of good photoblog software. I plan to install it under my own domain, so the blog hosts are not what I was searching for. I spent a couple of days with WordPress software, but editing CSS and PHP files is eating away too much of my time, since the templates/themes are set with a textual blog in mind. Any help is appreciated.. Thanks, Waleed __________________

This is what I've been using for the time being; I use Photobucket to host the images, and just dump the photos online. I will be assembling a better site, but I've been saying that for more than year now... |

Thanks Michael, but I'm staying away from blogs hosted on other domains/websites.. I'm looking for software to host on my own site.

Hi Waleed, I use pmachine (http://www.pmachine.com) at http://www.lifeontheslea.co.uk/weblog.php you need a MySQL database to run it but I think that is true of a lot of them. I dont use it in a very sophisticated way. just text and pictures, you can get different skins and it comes with the ability to have registered users with various programmable options (posting etc) and you can also email all the users. It does what I want so I am happy with it, I used to use bBlog software but didnt like it very much. pMachine's probably got more options now as my version is over 12 months old.
My only criticism is that there is not an option to have comments in line on the first page (you have to click a link to see any comments by other people.) Slea |

Thanks Slea, I'll see what options available as I just plan to post something like photo of the day, and have visitors flip pages to see them. Here's what I did so far with WordPress: http://waleedsgallery.biz/fo2oz/
I still have lots of work to do on it, but if there's something ready, I'll just pull the plug on this one. |

I use WordPress, hosted on my own server, and The Journal software (disclaimer: I'm the developer of The Journal) to create a rather simple photo blog. I describe the details here:
How I Use The Journal for my Photo Blog Since WordPress allows you to upload images with your posts, I just have the images hosted by the blog. The advantages of this system are: 1. I don't bother with HTML. The HTML is generated by The Journal when I post the blog. 2. I can easily attach descriptions to the images (or not). And I can easily include other text (formatted if I want) with the images. 3. The Journal automatically generates a unique name for each image file on the blog. On the other hand, once I've made the post, I have to use WordPress to edit it. What you need might be more complicated, of course. My photo blog is as simple as I can make it. ![]() -David |

David,
First I'd like to say what a wonder family you have there, God bless you all.. You've captured great and rare moments and shared them with us all, so thank you very much ![]() I have a static website for the business, but I thought of a photo blog to compliment the static side.. I needed the flexibility of a dynamic online application that helps me upload images through a browser only (can do it anywhere), and to present the image neatly & instantly for visitors. At first, I tried a photo gallery, but it needed too many mouse clicks through thumbnails to reach and view photos.. I didn't want that for my visitors.. I now I'm picky, but that's just me ![]() __________________
