With the new intel quad Mac Pros, one wonders if it pays yet to get them for Photoshop and Adobe Suite usage?
Anyone know when and if Adobe is going to adjust their Photo Applications to take advantage of the new Intel processor speeds? thanks, Mark __________________

My understanding there are no date changes, the Universal release will be with CS3, first quarter 2007.. I think it's good to wait, so that early adopters will help Apple smooth the rough edges in both hardware and OS.
My mind is already set for a Mac Pro and a MacBook Pro too.. I know it's a lot of money, but my current Macs have outlived their times a long time ago.. My son is already trying to bargain his way around my PowerBook G4/667 (which I only use on location to store images and do backups) ![]() |

That is a shame they aren't doing it sooner.
Does anyone know how much speed loss is involved. Our resident artist's Dual 1G G4, a very nice computer and not slow, was wrecked by installation of a Sonnet duet accellerator and had to be trashed (OWC still charged 15% to return the accellerator and I didn't feel like fighting with them). So we got Ron a dual 2g Intel Mac. The computer is, in general, very fast. But he didn't notice any great difference in his Photoshop work. I suppose he will have to wait until 2007 for any speed increases there. I use a dual 2.5G G5, which is why I didn't upgrade with the now out of date quad intel Mac. But this newer one promises even more speed and, for me, the very important extra PCI-Express slot (I use the 30" monitor with 2-PC I slot video card) and an extra Firewire 800 connector. For my high storage needs, I use 500 and 600GB Firewire 800 drives and I run into trouble with the limited amount of connectors I can use with my present CPU (three, including a SIIG card. But I don't have any more slots for another siig card and daisy-chaining those drives beyond two causes trouble some times). So if anyone knows the speed differences/losses without utilization of the intel properties in Photoshop, I would appreciate knowing it. Otherwise, I agree totally with your strategy. Thanks, Mark __________________
