Question Photo Album Software

A while ago I had a brilliant free software that would make really nice albums that I could FTP to my web space. Trouble is I can't find it/remember what is was called.

I have tried the on in CS5 but I'm not to keen on it, any recommendations for software to use ?

Also what size should I make my pictures for decent viewing on the web ?

Try JAlbum - it's free and very flexible with lots of skins.

Nice one that looks usable but it shrinks the main pics, might be a setting somewhere. I'll give it a go thanks

There are settings for just about everything - including image sizes and whether it links to slides or the original image - or all three if you like.

It depends on your intended audience. I try to keep things workable in the relatively low 1024x768 resolution that a lot of IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad laptops use, as a rough least common denominator. But then people can come from smaller resolutions on an iPhone, or much larger resolutions on a home desktop.

If you use StatCounter for tracking web site visitors, it will show you a graph of what resolutions visitors to your website were using. That could help guide your decisions. (That as well as OS, browser, and other useful things.)

I feel like a broken record but I'll again recommended Lumapix's FotoFusion. It really is the easiest software I've used along those lines.

I love FotoFusion as well. There are different versions based on your needs. I'm making a family heritage scrapbook for our family reunion & it's been a lifesaver.

You mention CS5, do you also have Adobe's Lightroom 3?

If so, it has built-in web galleries, which may/may not be any better than CS5's. But there is a very powerful set of web module from The Turning Gate. You can upload the gallery to your server directly from within LR or export locally and FTP if you prefer that.
