Default NEC PA271W-BK - the ultimate photographer's monitor?

I've used NEC monitors for years and have yet to be disappointed. This new NEC, the MultiSync PA271W, looks to be ideal for photography. I have the older 2960WUXi, and if I had to pick flaws in it, I'd say the resolution could be a bit finer and the size a tad larger. This new NEC would seem to fit the bill in both ways. In addition, it has the really cool feature of automatically adjusting brightness based upon how bright your room is. So if you're working in a darkened room, it won't blind you with the brightness level that you set while it was sunny.

Here's the blurb:

The 27" NEC MultiSync PA271W, a widescreen LCD display ideal for graphics and photography applications, makes even your most demanding color-critical projects seem simple. This model, which touts a dynamic design, wide color gamut, 14-bit 3D LUT, eco-conscious features, high brightness and many cutting-edge technologies, has created a new benchmark for accurate, consistent and repeatable color performance.
  • 97.1% coverage of AdobeRGB color space
  • Superior screen performance (1000:1 contrast ratio, 2560 x 1440 native resolution, 300cd/m2 brightness)
  • Supports internal programmable 14-bit 3D lookup tables (LUTs) for calibration
  • DisplaySync ProTM controls two computers with only one keyboard and mouse
  • Color Vision Emulation for type P/D/T supporting Color Universal Design
  • AmbiBrightTM ambient light sensor automatically adjusts the display’s brightness based on lighting conditions
  • XtraView+TM technology provides for the widest viewing angles available with minimal off-angle color shift
  • Wide connectivity includes DisplayPort, two DVI-D inputs and USB hub
Of course, this thing isn't cheap.

Someone tell me why the IPS panels have to cost four times more than TN panels...

Partly due to supply/demand, partly the expense of the technology, partly because the gaming industry prefers the faster response time of the TN thus feeding the market demand.

Or the spectraview version of that monitor? PA271W-BK-SV

Fully automated calibration - By making adjustments directly in the display hardware, optimal settings are configured without any user interaction. SpectraView II communicates with the display monitors using Display Data Channel - Command Interface (DDC/CI) which is a two-way communications link between the video graphics adapter and display monitor using the normal video signal cable. No extra cables are necessary.
