I have a Nikon D50 and a D70 for amongst other things . wedding /events photography . I recently shot some portraits [ see main section " the port(a)trait box "] .
Now the D50 does a good job except when I need to use it and change all the settings I had for the portraits while it was on the tripod . I am considering getting a compact to stay permanently on the tripod so I don't need to change anything . Needs : Good iso noise control for low light pictures with decent dof . Decent lens of course and 4 meg or more . Wants : a big lcd at the back would be 'nice' for when the older guests want to see what the picture looked like , but not a necessity . I read a dpreview comparison of the canon and panasonic which mentions that panasonic resizes the image over 800iso and interpolates it back up again for really clean but low detail pictures . Maybe this is good for portraits ? . It mentions that canon has better noise control though . The other camera I am seriously considering is the fuji S5600 which has some nice features and apparently good noise control . Any other suggestions ? I hate compacts but since this will have a specialised use I could even tolerate one with no viewfinder and a HUGE lcd screen ! [my canon S70 is out of the question... AWFUL noise control ] __________________
