Yah, but those were all without any post processing. Here are the same shots after a little post processing using "Picasa 3":

Here's a macro shot I took today of an arrangement of slightly tattered phony flowers, that my wife found at a yard sale for 25 cents:
(It shows just how good the lens is that they put on these little A560 cameras.).

Nice shots and post processing. A cat in one of your pic seems to be really happy. About the lens, yeah, I agree that the a560's lens is great. I hope that newer Powershot models have that kind of lens.

Hi glockman99,

Sharp and detailed, as can be expected of the A550, but alas I also see some over-satured reds, that clip away the details.

Not knowing the A550 that well, but it might have PictureStyles or ImageParameters?? If so, for these kind of shots, you might try 'natural' or 'neutral' in stead of 'standard'

...just ideas, *my* €0.02...

Kindest regards!

Yah, I think I might have went alittle too far with my post processing, in saturating the colors, but other than the over-saturated reds, I like the way the green leaves turned out. I am using the (free) Google "Picassa 3", which does have its' limits. I'm going to copy the single flower shot, and re-process it, and see how it looks with muted colors.

Thank-You! Eventho I've shot film for the past 45 or so years, I'm still pretty new to this digital photography and post-processing stuff.

Dirk,

I did buy that Nikon 5400, and I like it, but for some reason, it's the little Canon A550 that I use 99% of the time...Eventho I am a "Nikon man".

As far as the grain in the photos go, I actually like it...Especially the one of my cat (Lady May-Bug) and the "out of focus-looking" photo that I posted last (the telephone poles shot at night).

thanks for the update Dann i understand it , the canon is a good camera
i have checked the real effective resolution and these are the results *rounded up to 3 decimals

nikon claims 6.1 in real it is 6.016 MP (for the D50/D70)
canon powershot a540 claims 6 MP 5.947 MP
nikon coolpix L12 / e7600 claims 7.1 really 7.077 MP
canon eos 300D claims 6.3 MP is 6.2914MP
olympus fe350 claims 8mp really 7.990 MP

Nikon cheats more than canon and olympus to my test
