Default another Canon G10

I also picked up a G10 over the holidays to carry when I don't feel like carrying my 40D around. I do have one problem I need some help with so I hope this is the right area to ask.

My problem is that CS3 does not read the raw files in the G10. I have been to adobe and tried all the new raw plugins with no luck, tried emailing adobe but their support page was having issues. I know I can use digital photo pro to work on them, my preference is photoshop though. I cannot afford to go to CS4.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also if this question would be best posted in another area please let me know which one.

You will have to use the canon software. I believe the g10 and anything after is the cut off point for CS3.

For my 5D Mark II and all that I just use lightroom than import to photoshop CS2

Sure there is not an update available for CS3 camera raw?
Or if not I expect there will be soon.

I have a G10 also and found that "for sure" Adobe will not include anymore camera raw updates for CS3 (Adobe wants you to purchase CS4). The last and latest camera raw update for CS3 did not include the Canon G10. Adobe Lightroom 2.2 includes the G10 in its raw update, the problem with LR 2.2 is that it has a few bugs.

Thanks for the information, I will just have to start out in DPP then move to PS. I must have misread when I was looking at tghe G10 because i thought it would shoot 2 images at the same time like my 40D. but I have looked in the book and cannot find anything at all.

It does, you have to enable it

There's an option that says "When shooting raw also shoot L", enable it.

...it is a separate menu: see here, almost all the way down the page in the 'display and menus' section

& about RAW and CS3: you can convert to DNG with the ACR (5.x) of CS4 and then use CS3 but IMO DPP and then CS3 is a better option

...€0.02...

Kindest regards!

Found the setting, not even hidden, i just missed it. Thank you folks for the help.

So far I really like the G10, i have noticed a bit more noise at even 400 dpi than i would have expected. It may be the operator, I still have much to learn about this one. I was using the 570is for my back up and hiking camera rather than lug the 40 D around, the G10 cannot even be fairly compared to the 570is, it is that much more of a camera, time will tell once the snow melts and I start getting back into the woods.

Just use the latest Adobe RAW converter as a stand alone application to convert RAW files to DNG. That is what I do and I only have CS2.
