Default PowerShot S5 IS SD card

When my S1 IS died two weeks ago I moved up to DSLR and got a 40D.
Canon sent me a free brand new S5 IS to replace my 4 year old S1.
It takes SD cards and all my cards are CF.
What speed SD cards should I get for this camera? No sense spending the extra $$ for a super high speed card if the camera can't take advantage of that speed.

Anyone know the write speed of a S5 IS?

I'm not sure of the write speed, but I'd get at least a Scandisk Ultra II, and a Ultra III wouldn't hurt.

The DPReview test of the S5-IS does some writing-tests, bottom of page four, but they only tested with a 1Gb SANDisk Extreme III SDHC card...

IMO a fast(er) card for the camera won't hurt, and if you do not get all the extra speed in-camera, then downloading through a cardreader might be pleasantly speedier, at JPG ExtraFine the filesize is close to 4 Mb...

PS: there are several cool offerings from SANDisk that include a small portable USB2.0-SDHC card reader ATM, if you do not own a (portable) cardreader yet...

...and my colleague, who also does some filming with his S3-IS, advised that faster seemed to be better for movies someway...

...just sharing what-I-know & found, *my* €0.02 worth...

Kindest regards!
