Default Kodak ZD710

I have just purchased the kodak ZD710 and my first imprestion is it seems to be a sort of hybrid with some SLR propaties. As anyone else got the same model as I am keen to learn how to use the camera to its full potential.

Kinda a slow forum here! I don't have the Kodak camera, but I do have a Canon S2, which I believe to be in the same class. It has many of the same features as your Kodak. Electronic viewfinder, long zoom, shutter speed, F Stop control etc. These cameras have what it takes to take some great photos. However, I don't believe there's any such thing as a camera being "close" to an SLR. It either is an SLR or it isn't, and these EVF cameras just aren't. Having a small sensor means very limited DOF control, and they just don't work very well in low light or with high ISOs. But when used within their limitations, they are capable of making some outstanding photos. So take your Kodak, and put that sucker to work. You're going to love it!

I have stareted to use the manuel settings and experiment a bit. I took this image of a puppy half expecting to end up with pet eye and was suprised at the result. I still need a lot more practise though.

I own a Z740 It don't seem bad for a P&S. I assume the 710 is close to the same newer or older.
