I hope I'm posting this in the right forum!
I like to take pictures and I use the Kodak EasyShare CX7530. I look at my pictures on the LCD screen as they are being saved to the memory card and most of the time they look decent to me, or how I wanted the shot to look. But when I load them onto the computer they don't look like I thought they did. Not as clear as I thought it would be, lighting is hard to tell whether it is right or not. Sometimes I look through the viewfinder, and sometimes I use the LCD and I find that the viewfinder doesn't quite get the same picture as the LCD. What I think is out of frame when I look through the viewfinder could actually be partially in the frame. Is there a way to use the LCD to view the pics like they will show up on the computer? Or will I have to go into review mode and zoom in to make sure everything is right? __________________

Just my two cents... I'm sure others who have more photography experience behind them will be more useful than me!
I never use my viewfinder. I have a Sony, but nevertheless. For me, it's easier to use the LCD and zoom to "crop" things out of my photo that I dont want there...such as a telephone line or something. As for the way photos show up... I usually go into review mode and zoom in to check to see if the photo is clear or not. Sometimes I will just take 2-3 of the same photo just to ensure that I got the shot clear and right. Usually on my camera I can tell when the photo is blurry. How large is your LCD on your camera? |

Your Kodak has an optical viewfinder that only covers approx. 82% of the actual image that is saved. It takes some getting used to interpolating the field of view in the viewfinder. But, because I grew up with cameras that only had a viewfinder its natural for me to frame a shot with it instead of using the LCD. All in what you prefer.
I try to photograph birds in flight sometimes and find that a good viewfinder is the only instrument suitable for action shots. I have several cameras with (EVF) electronic view finders that are not optical but simply mimic what you have on the LCD. I find it impossible to use this type of viewfinder photographing birds in flight, just too slow in reaction timing., they won't follow action very well. To fully appreciate a good optical viewfinder pick up an older 35 mm camera and observe the view through the viewfinder, 100% field of view and chrystal clear. |

Michelle,
Your LCD viewfinder is, I believe, 1.8 inch. You may need to purchase a very inexpensive viewfinder shade or make one so that you can take advantage of the LCD finder in bright sunlight. As Sidebyte wrote, your optical finder may be deceiving, but your LCD finder should be accurate. Do not be too surprised at your camera. Many, in fact most cameras, do not offer 1:1 viewfinders. Today's digital camera bodies with good, 1:1 viewfinders typically cost over $1,000 U.S. for the body alone, and yes, these are great to have if you need them. Tom |

I read in a book about parallax I believe it is called. And until I read that I hadn't really thought about where the viewfinder is on the camera as compared to the lens. I also hadn't realized at the time that my viewfinder only shows so much of the photo compared to the LCD which shows the full photo.
I can zoom in on my LCD which is nice. __________________
