Default Macro quality from a Panasonic LX5 (creepy-crawly warning)

Just took delivery of a second hand Panasonic LX5 . Took it into the garden, popped it into macro focus and took the shot.

Whilst it's not anywhere near the quality of a 7D of course I'm blown away by the IQ considering it's classed as a compact.

Thanks, I still can't get over the quality of modern compacts! I only bought it as a backup for when I go away as I'm getting too old to lug 2 bodies everywhere.

I think I shall do some "serious" shooting with it instead.

I bought an LX5 just before a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Italy. I thought it would be a serious compromise, but I didn't want to lug a DSLR and the multiple lenses that I always "need." The LX5 was a joy to use, and I'm very happy with the results. Image stabilization woks perfectly, and the image quality is great, and the EVF was great for low-level shots and ceilings. I now always have it with me.

Thanks for the kind words. I forgot to mention how much I liked your macro shot. I am in awe of people who can capture insects up close. I bet you are gonna love your LX5.
