A while back there was a thread on a photo forum somewhere asking about flexible glossy, white plastic. I haven't been able to find the thread ... but I found some good stuff this week.
I had another shoot to do with bottle caps - this one with emphasis on colors. I was wondering around a Hobby Lobby artsy-fartsy-craftsy store and found a sheet of thin dry-erase plastic in the Poster Board selection. It's 22" x 28" and one side is a very smooth, very glossy surface. It is fairly opaque, very flexible and about $5. I had it sitting on white seamless paper for this shot: __________________

Love the colors Zemlin. Thanks for the info on where to find the board. We have a Hobby Lobby here and I will have to go check that out.

Nice Job, Zemlin. That's a good idea, and good find on the white-board!
Personally, I've found I can get 'better white' on the background by placing the subject on a piece of clear plastic / glass which will provide the reflection, then I bring in a white background and over-expose it to get it completely white. Just my two-cents worth. |

I ditto halon314. Nice shot and a useful find for glossy bkg. I usually use sheets of acetate with pristine white paper beneath. Your solution seems to be less chancy because it is less likely to crimp. Glossy acetate crimps, and so does paper. Good show!

I often shoot on glass as well, but you get the double reflection with that. Normally I go full-blown white with the glass, which masks any reflections. I also messed with acetate a bit, but it scratched VERY easily and also looked silvery from an angle.
