Default First 4x5 attempt

I did this a while back for a lady who entertained thoughts of her wonderful sauza going commercial. She never followed up on it though.*
The 400 long side may be a bit small here, but any C&C are welcome. If I can find the original scan I'll post it.

Recommend a top light ( Lightbox). Better rendition of salsa/sauza. Remember, force the eye to the product!

I would have to agree a focused spot on the salsa would add some "pop" to the image and force the focus to it better. The chips, being brighter, grab the attention.

Thanks for the comments,

I was wondering about those points myself afterwards.
My first attempt, practice, practice, practice.

It looks like you handled the focal plane and exposure well. To add to what's already been said, I would've gone closer. The context is good but it overruns the central subject. Put your light and emphasis on the sauza, illustrate the texture, the colors, the thickness. The ingredients might be best a secondary and the chips tertiary in terms of emphasis... one or two chips will get you the context as well as a bunch.

I love view cameras.

I agree with Dutch's comments--all the comments here are good, actually. I feel the photograph is somewhat unsharp as presented.

Overall, though, I love seeing this type of work. Keep at it.

Thanks Chip and JD,

Guess I should have ate the chips before the shoot. The lady I did this for was doing the arranging and I didn't really see the effect till after.
I really enjoyed doing this shot and would love to get one of those view cameras for my own to play with.

Thanks guys,
