Default Case Setting for Canon 7d Mark ii

For those shooting BIF using a Canon 7d Mark ii....what Case setting have you found to be best? Thanks for taking the time to share.

Bill

I like case 2, just to keep it from jumping off the bird if I get slightly off target or if something comes between the bird and me.

Thanks for the input Swampler. I just got the camera 2 days ago and still working my way through the User Manual. I also found a very good Canon document that discusses the Case settings in great detail and that has helped my learning. Now I have to take what I have read and apply it with some practice shots. The camera so far seems AWESOME.

I messed with them a fair bit and tried different ones but finally set it to case 3 and changed the settings to -2, +2, +2 after watching several videos by Art Morris where he explains his reasoning. Seems to work pretty well. You can see his settings here and he talks about case settings about 3:52 into the clip.

Kevin....thanks for giving me some input. I guess I simply need to shoot and experiment to see what best fits my needs. Lots to learn. Thanks again.

Suggest putting the various sliders in a MyMenu screen. That way you can customise as you wish, rather than select a Case number.

Setting the AF point switching to +2 will set it (and thus autofocus) into psycho mode. If it works for you then fine but don't miss a sharp shot just because the AF is flicking form one primary AF point to another every microsecond (not literally but you get the point - the system barely has time to settle). I can understand for close ups of swallows in flight but for most other shots it's probably overkill.
