Default EXIF and Metering Mode

While viewing the EXIF of photos, I have been noticing that alot of the times, that for the Metering Mode, it says Pattern

Now in my instruction manuals for my 1D and XSi, there is no such mode Both manuals have 4 modes:

Evaluative
Partial
Spot
Center Weighted

Would the the EXIF program(Opanda) be reconizing Partial metering as Pattern?

I have been doing more and more research on sports photography, as I'm trying to get better in that field, and looking at the EXIF of others has been really helpful as to setups and etc..

Pattern could be pattern on a Nikon (don't know the Nikon names) but in Canon land pattern would be evaluative

If you view your EXIF with either Canon's DPP or ZoomBrowser or BreezeBrowser, you get the correct naming for the Canon's but they 'do not give EXIF of screenshots'

...€0.02...

Kindest regards!

"Pattern" is Matrix metering on Nikon, which is the equivalent of Evaluative. Nikon's Center-Weighted and Spot metering modes show up with the correct names.

If you have any specific questions, ask away in the Sports forum or fire off a private message to me. I'm trying to be more of a presence there again, as I've been shooting primarily sports for a few years now. My experience is primarily in field and gym sports.
