Unhappy Noise in Low ISO ????

Is there anyone out there that can tell me what would cause that? I have never had that happen before. I was using Canon 50D, 24-70mm L Lens, B & W UV filter. Outdoors mid day in teh shade of a tree photographing bridesmaids & bride. VERY WIERD and I'm NOT a happy camper. Anyone ever have this happen Thank you so much!!!

Post a sample with exif info. Was the image underexposed and brightened later in software? What ISO? Did you try it without the filter?

Without seeing an example or knowing what you did, both in the camera and in post processing, I can only say that underexposure in shadows can cause noise, particularly if you brighten the image in post processing, even with low ISO.

1st, I 2nd the questions you've already gotten. Also, does the noise show in prints?

Was the noise pattern noise? Pattern noise can be caused by electrical interference. The source of the last example I saw appeared to have been a radio flash trigger. I've heard more complaints about that from 5D owners though.

Also, after having taken over 25k frames with the 50D i can add that what RAW processor you use will definately affect the noise levels. Using ACR you can get a weird form of noise that almost looks like crystalisation at close levels which will not show up on say Capture One or DPP.
