Tamron 300/2.8 LD IF SP AF Telephoto Lens vs the Sigma 300 f2.8
Which one would you get? The Tamron seems to get slightly higher reviews. So I am being swade that way so far. Has anyone used both of these lenses? Steve __________________

I have tried both, but not extensively, and didn't buy either one. The Tamron seemed to distort a bit more in the corners. The Sigma was a touch "warm" in color, which is good sometimes. Both of them focus a LOT slower than the Canon 2.8 or even the Canon 4.0, and slow focusing isn't so good sometimes. If you can't afford the Canon 4.0 (cheaper than the 2.
, then I'd have to say get the Sigma. I thought it was a click better.I think the Sigma 300mm f/4.0 is better than either of the two you are comparing though... |

Try the latest Tokina AT-X Pro 300 f/2.8. It apparently focusses very fast and is only a hair behind the Canon 300 f/2.8L in image quality. Dirt cheap as well. It scores much better than the Sigma or Tamron.

Don't forget Sigma's 120-300 f/2.8...its zoom range are handier than a shirt pocket...optically, it's a superman! AF might not totally match up with Canon, but it ain't slow either...
