Why did you buy a Canon?

My dad shot/still shoots a Canon A-1, since 1978 to be specific. But the main reason was that at the time, my friend was shooting canon. The irony in all this is that after renting a D300 for a weekend and a E-3 for a week, my friend jumped ship to the D300, but I emerged with a 40D in hand, even without a trial period of any kind!

Of course I did spoil myself a bit, my kit lens was the 24-70 f2.8 L...

I purchased Canon just because my family has always used Canon. I had access to many lens so no brainer for me. I would love to shoot a Nikon though. I just hope the persons not wearing it.

I spoke to three camera repair shops in Central Virginia in 2004.
Their recommendation was Canon. Not that Nikon is an inferiour product by any means.
Key to their recommendation was Nikons inability to provide that great level of support provided by Canon. One of the shops would not carry Nikon because of this history.
