Wow! All of you are amazing. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain these to me. Now more than ever I know I have a long way to go in understanding editing. Which brings me to the point of now taking a class or buying a really good expplanitory book. I read through all of them. I must say I am a little brain fried, lol, but none the less it is great info for me and I will be reading this thread over and over again.

Wow, I had no idea that this thread was still going! I have been shooting some RAW photos since I started this thread and am very excited about the possibilities. I've been "tied up" learning how to edit my files and I've been taking an online class on exposure AND the next lesson is all about RAW! I have no excuses anymore. I have been shooting RAW+jpeg, but am about ready to switch to just RAW as I don't really even open the jpgs-I think they are just a security blanket.

I did figure out how to adjust the exposure before I converted it to Jpeg. But I did have other things I needed to do that I couldn't do in raw. Like the clone stamp, ect.

My biggest confusion is the WB. I will check again when I get home tonight. I am sure me being color blind does not help. But I do not see any difference when I move the wb. I tried it in auto and the manually. IDK....
Not sure if you are still watching this thread but for what it's worth Lightroom 2 has a neat feature for WB. An eyedropper allows you to select a known white source in the photo - for example, teeth, eye, shirt, etc and then use that to set your white balance for the photo! Almost like using a grey card.

That's very handy . . .I believe the dropper in LR1 just "meters" off of middle grey to adjust the white balance? People keep telling me I should upgrade because of the neat new tools . . .
