Does anyone think there will be updates to the current Mark 3 with the new software from the 5D (whatevere it is) or are they going to just make a new N camera? I've shot the Nikon D3 head to head with my MK3 and the D3 was much better at 6400 IMO. The new Canon 50D tells me the new 5D will be as good or better then the Nikon D3. So I am hoping to get a firmware upgrade to my for even beter High ISO in my MK3. But I wouldn't mind having the new LCD.

I here the MK3 files are better than any cam on the market up to ISO 800, thats what Rob Galbraith says, thats why he still uses the MK3 as against the D3, don't think any updates for the MK3 will come as Canon say its now to full spec, some might argue that point, mine seems fine now after all fixes.

...evolution-wise, eventually we will see new 1-series cameras with dual DiGiC 4 processors, the new functions -and- the new LCD, but that could be another year or two, as the Mk III series have relatively 'just' arrived (1-D3 02-2007 and 1-Ds3 08-2007, and have a lifespan of about 3 years, if Canon chooses to continue the previous timepath... ![]() ...a new firmware-update to include new lenses in the current database aboard the 1 MkIII series (like when the 200F2.0 and 800F5.6 were released) could still happen, and perhaps they will give the AF another tweak, but that is not likely to happen... ...*my* thoughts, €0.02 worth...
